I was at Lowe's looking at splitters a while back and one of them (not sure of make) had a adjustment on the valve handle that you could set for the length of log to make cycle time shorter. My questions are: does anyone have a splitter with one of these valves, do they work and could I retrofit one to my 22 ton Huskee?
For what its worth, I have looked in the archives and the best I've found is to clamp a wood collar around the cylinder rod to make the detent click to stop
Thanks, David

my question how in the heck would a valve limit the length of stroke of a cylinder except by cutting volume of oil flowing into the cylinder in which case either a timing system or a volume measurement device? either way sounds real pricey .

Ok I looked it up. a stroke limiting valve does indeed exist, patents taken out back in 1949 and 1950. But man it sounds complicated after high speed scanning of the description of operation. As was mentioned couple bolts and a chunk of Oak get it done redneck style. dirt cheap also. Kiss principal in full operation. Now I have to go find some JD- edumacation hurts this poor old noggin.

The ram doesn't have to go all the way back. Just pull it back until it clears the wood. Problem solved.
