Hey everyone I was offered the stove for free but I’m not able to see it in person. It’s definitely an older wooden Insert just not sure if it’s worth the trip to inspect it. Any idea what brand it is and if it’s worth doing a rebuild on if it’s needed. Gasket cleaning painting etc.

I think it might be an older Vermont Castings insert.

Those inserts have single doors. It is a Vermont Castings 0044 fireplace insert, internally designed a little like the first Defiant. They just called it FirePlace Insert. Made in the early 1980s with a simpler design than the WinterWarm.

Can you post a close up of the cord's receptacle on the insert? It may be a standard type like a computer power cord.

Computer power cord

Here it is.. looks more like an old Nesco roaster plug to us, but nothing like things we have seen recently.. Of course, that's what 45 yrs old will get you.

You're right, it does! The plug could be removed and the blower direct wired with a cord. Or, maybe the plug could be replaced with a standard computer cord plug socket.
