I just split a small quantity of Hemlock I got hold of. This is green wood, a large offshoot from the main trunk of a 25+ year old decorative tree, maybe 8in diameter at most. I noticed it is very dense and heavy. A question for those of you who have burned the stuff- what would be the minimum seasoning time on this type? Any chance I could be burning it perhaps by late winter 2011-12?

I would say that maybe you will be able to burn it if you have it split. I know 8" isn't much to split but after being split it should dry fairly fast.
