Got up bright and early this mornin to beat the heat and humidity and drop two 24" oaks. My dad limbed em up earlier this week so all we had left were the poles. One was leanin hard over the shop but a steady pull with the truck and the right notch she came down jusssst right.. :-) Got about a 1 1/2 cords from em im guessin and still have close to 20 dead oaks to come down!

Here's my dad and my buds kid playin on the see saw i mean tree saw lol.

Ain't nothing like free dead BTU's in your driveway.

why cant I see any of these damn pics!

That's a great picture SmokinPiney!

Looks like super wood. Are you going to cut up the larger branches, too? My dad saves everything down to about 1.5" diameter.
I stop around 2.5". Free wood - the best.
Happy burning.

With all those Pines around you I suspect you'll hang on to that oak till it get good and cold. Good take.

Over the last month and about 5 pick up loads of red and white oak, the pile of round next to my driveway are also smelling sweet. Every time I walk by or get a good breeze from that direction can't help but to smile. Thanx to a C/L score my neighbor and I still got a couple of oaks and 2 hickory to take down. Got to wait for a cool day last time was way too hot to be bucking trees. Nice Pic..

Maplewood, yeah we keep pretty much everything down the 2" or so.. It all burns!!

Savage, We don't burn pine unless we run outta hardwood.. There's just so much dead oak and other hardwoods around.. Call me a snob if ya wanna lol.

And it looks like there's gonna be alot more wood around after tonights storm. Had some wicked straightline winds about 5 miles from here that took out dozens of trees. We've been gettin hammerd this past week..

I have to agree that lately I have so much Dead Oak falling into my lap that my Pine stocks have been neglected! I've got 6 cords of Oak so far and about 6 more that I need to go get... I need more free time!

Just watched the news over 300 trees came down in Medford lakes because of wind sheer. Lots of wood to be had. Although most of it is pine... not that that is a bad thing. I like burning pitch pine! Easy pickins and splitting. Some of the other (Chrismas tree like) pines are not worth the trouble, they don't split they just shred and splinter... what a P.I.T.A!

I was driving through Medford with the trailer yesterday and saw all that free wood and almost stopped, but it was really raining hard! I don't know if I'll be able to get back over there to get some of it, I am too overloaded with free wood right now!! If anyone from the general area is looking for free wood drop me a line and I'll tell you what roads to drive down... Just make sure you knock on the doors and ask before taking. Most of it is cut to length and stacked by the roadside.

Yea medford and medford lakes got hammerd by winds and rain on friday night. The numbers im hearin on trees down is anywhere from 300 to 500+. The country club got it the worst with all those maples and oaks standin in the open. If i didn't have 20 more oaks here to take down and another 30-40 to take down on another property i'd be a scroungin sob right about now.

I hear ya... I'm in the same boat right now. These wasps are really doing a number on the Red Oaks in the area!! My summers scrounge is at about 10-12 cords of all Oak and I find myself turning away wood because I don't have the time to get it all.

I sure could use a much bigger wood hauler and a processor!!!!
