Hubby bought some backer board late yesterday.... already got bag of thin set mortar ,still haven't used for bathtub setting yet... saw videos of several install methods...
Plywood 3/4 here now since late 90s///
what y'all think best. ???
We had a really nice wet saw yrs ago bought from then local pawn shop. back at former house. unfortunately or fortunately resold it. will prob have to buy another one to finish up several rooms around here. then can resell it cause its going to take long time to get it done. don't wanna hurry it. too many irons in fire now,,,
opinions please. we watched lots of videos . I did some porcelain down in the basement here yrs ago myself. so not a novice. thanks all

Thin set
Screw backer board (Hardie board) down onto wet thinset
Fill joints.
More thin set and then tile

I don't think we should remove stack washer dryer sitting on homemade platform with washing pan ? its a Asko units. but dryer doesn't work right. a gear looking objects laying inside of bottom cover. Don't know why . caused I I haven't used dryer but few times over the yrs.. I'm FREEN sort of lol. plus its going to be pain in the butt getting it down . gonna tell Hubby but bet he will balk at mention of the. thinset underneath backer board, too....he will tell me I read too much

Thanks again sportsrider......called USG and downloads the PDF for product.... you're so CORRECT.....I even asked tech representative from USG.. I asked the rep to repeat so ...so that I could put him on speaker phone/ Since Hubby didn't want to believe so. I just want it done right.
well so far the 1/4 bd is down and taped with joints "thinsetted. Now to get time and decide which tiles to use. Have some leftover from a relative and some got at Habitat. some bought from tile big distributor store back in 2011. "garage sale".stuff.. They are nice big 22 inch ones or so.polished porcelain.
Its a small laundry /pantry room prob 6.5 ft by 6.5.. He didn't put bd under the stack unit... be so nice to see finished room started in 1989,
