-3/66. Wife threw some pine in while I was still in bed because the furnace kicked in. Assuming there was a major pile of coals. She also did a quick wipe down of the glass 😁. Will be a full load of pine, aspen and black ash going in fairly soon because her smallish load of pine won't last long.

🥶❄️☃️

That 10 pm load will the the big maple piece is almost done.
A few minutes shy of 15 hrs. A bit less than I expected but it was and still is in the lower 20s outside. Upstairs 69.
A few sassafras ugly splits, two oak shorties of 10", a piece of locust of 12" and a split of pine now.

The sassafras feels like paper after 4.5 years split and stacked...

I spent half the day splitting Siberian elm. I figured out if I end cut to the splits I want to a little more than the depth of the Stihl MS201 bar á splitting wedge sits nicely in the kerf and splitting is possible for most shapes

Anyway, it’s not too cold here, just hovering around freezing…
So, started á fire at 1900

1 chestnut/ 1 Wht oak
Siberian elm and oak on top
Kindled with hazel/ apple/ oak

never got around to posting…

This mornings load was oak, ash and male and maybe 1 split of cherry snuck in.

Then did a load of cut offs, lots of hickory ones, around 4. Going to do one more in an hour or so I think. I have so many right now.

Been feeding oak and a bit of locust splits. Turns out the enormous pile of coals this morning was from a bunch of mixed hardwood splits that had just finished burning down, and sitting on top of the coal bed I've been maintaining. The NMGFA fed the dragon before I got up at 6:30.

26 feels like 16 outside, 70 upstairs.

The 1 pm odds and ends are done.
A load of oak. Most red but some possibly white. Not very straight, so some air in there.

Some of the splits looked like this. Much more brown than I know red oak to be. But much more stringy than I know (white) oak to be. From Higher up a tree .

Tonight’s reload, big piece of mystery wood on bottom (kind of stringy, sort of looks like oak), then 4 smaller hickory splits, 1 maple and chunks of beech/ash to fill the right side gap.

They’re talking low teens, high single digits tonight. STT 400, outside air 19, inside 66, CAT at 1060 and ramping, air a little past full close.

Dragon's been chowing mostly oak with a split or two of my normal 3 visit ''overnight'' reloads.
She's a hungry big girl. Especially in these cold temps.

Currently 15 with a real feel of -6. High is supposed to hit 23. Tonight's low at 18 with Sunday at 25/9.
Dragon feed is getting low. A little in the lair with a face cord in the truck waiting at the top. I loaded yesterday, and moved the to unload just to be met by a snow squall. Covered the truck quick as 2 inches collected. Wood yard is thinning of processed wood. Some of it was fresh green logs split in the fall. That will have to sit. Although there may be some red maple in it ready with the help of the winds we've had. I do have some old unprocessed stuff laying around. Luckily of some it's ash too.

Yesterday's 9.30 load is more or less done.
Three spruce splits and some too long oak pieces to go now.

28 outside, feels like 32 they say. I disagree ;-)
70 upstairs.
That afternoon oak and spruce is done.
Oak shorties and two spruce splits for overnight.

It won't cool down much (touch on 26 at 3 am) and tomorrow's high will be 33.

Fell to slumber 1am after feeding the dragon. Got up half hour ago for her cries through a cold house. Probably in the high 50s.
It's all good. I needed to catchup on some sleep. Single digits expected to night. The dragon and I will be dancing while the festivals of
oaks, locusts, and the mixed hardwoods continue.

It's just me now. #nmGFa.

It sounds like it’s been a rough couple months between work, the house now the GF. Stay strong my wood burning brother.

A load of spruce is on the loose this am, wife had hardwoods going yesterday and last night. Looking to do a 4pm reload before OT tonight. ☕️
