The technology changes so fast that much of my online research is pulling up outdated solutions. I would appreciate any recommendations of a good value wifi security camera I can mount outside to capture movement in driveway and front door area.

I would likely mount this on my detached garage that offers a single 'overwatch' view of my driveway, front door and approaches around both sides of the house. My garage can supply power to the camera and I have plenty of wifi bandwidth to capture stills/video back to my home NAS.

Looking for a single camera solution that I can add on cameras if I want. Thanks for any recs!

Figured I'd give my perspective. I'm a cop and have seen quite a few different camera systems. The main problem it's camera placement and quality. Yeah, you see the person or persons coming in, taking things, maybe even a vehicle but 90% of the time, the camera isn't high enough quality or placed right to be able to get a positive id. If you know who you're looking for (like a neighbor or employee) you'll be able to pick them out on just about anything, but if it's a stranger, it's a lot harder. You can pm me with any further questions.

Don't worry, I won't be PM'ing anybody unless it's about helpful information. Jesus Christ.

Your response is way out of line you asked for information and the poster offered helpful information.

Thanks thought it was just me

I thought smithm1979's post rather informative, also. Attitude won't get you very much help.
