I am considering the Jotul 550. (Yes my wife likes the flush mount and cast features) . Would anyone care to provide input on if the unit will allow for outside combustion air? We have a fairly tight house. I have reviewed the mfr's web site - no information.
I am also concerned about blower noise on the high setting.... would anyone care to comment if the noise is intolerable? too noisy to operate a TV at the same time within 10' of the insert? is the blower noise more or less favorable than a comparable PE insert?
Appreciate your input.

Hi - The 550 cannot have an OAK put on it. the primary air enters the firebox through a narrow channel just above the door. The blower fan is somewhat noisy on high, but we do watch tv in the same room as the stove with no problem, we just up the volume a little.

There is no way to hook up outside air on the 550. I really wanted it also, but settled without it. The fan on high is ok. We do have to turn up the tv a little bit when the fan is on high. The tv is about 10 ft. in front of me and the stove is half way between me and the tv - but off to the left side. I'm willing to live with the fan to heat with wood. Friends have commented on how quiet the fan is compared to older inserts they had (no brand mentioned).

thank you both for your input. As I stated, I have a fairly new , tight house..... should I have a concern about using inside combustion air for the C 550?
