Thanks for all the replies, it's nice to see that I am not alone. I just reloaded the stove and have had it going for 7 hours today. -15 C with the wind this AM. Stupid NW wind...
What's less nice to see is the 4 feet of snow sitting in my back yard. UGH. I am the type of person who looks forward to new seasons. I love snow in November but not so much in April. This year I bought an Ariens snowblower and said " I can't wait to give it a try". Well, 11 storms later I regret it (including the last 2 which were 65 and 45 CM respectively and were only 8 days apart).

We woke up to just an inch of snow, was supposed to be around three, and it was gone by noon. In the 40's but we have no south facing windows so the stove is still running from yesterday. Took advantage of the chilly weather outside to split a quarter cord as a break from the kitchen overhaul.

I've burned maybe 3 nights in the past month and half.. The air conditioner is kicking on every now & then the past few days. Every azeala in the area is in full bloom & all my firewood has been moved outside. I have already replaced the 1.5 cord l burned this year and will cut another 1/2 cord at most. On wood burning cruise control :coolsmile:
Fire at night, last till the afternoon sometime.
Small fires but house in the 70s
20s nights, maybe 40s daytime.
Nearing 13 hours of sun, so that helps allot.

Still burning, but being kind of "lazy" about it - not burning as hard as I was back in January, but I'm not letting it get cold either.
I burn a small fire at night and that's it. 2-3 small splits at the most.
I was outside working on stuff for a few hours in just a T Shirt. Seemed quite warm, I would have guessed close to 50*, but it started to snow a little so I came in to check and the thermometer was saying it's 34* out, so I'm not sure what the heck is up with that.
Honestly would not mind winter to hand around another couple months.

We are in the same boat here.... Winter is hanging on to the point where even though our backyard rink has been going longer than ever before I am ready for spring.
We could still be heating 24-7 but I am almost out of dry wood so I am rationing a little bit.
I am trying to avoid burning partially seasoned wood but we are getting to the point where I will do what I have to do to avoid using more electricity than necessary.
I am also getting antsy to begin cutting wood again soon with the priority being to follow a path around our shelter belt prior to heading off of the yard to nearby woodlots. We are about to see significant flooding in our region but thankfully our home is above any historical flood lines..... Or so we hope and we are told by the experts.

Pretty sad day at this house. Burned the very last of my split wood this morning. Its chilly still, single digits, and the snow is far from beginning to melt. I do have about 40 wood pallets out back that I can/need to take the skilsaw to, but that is all I have.
And fuel oil is $5 a gallon.
Putting up more wood this year, that's fer sure. Just wish I had a way to keep a year ahead of split/dried.

Burning Hunk
Just filled up my rack (about two days wood supply, all that's left). After that...? I went through 11 face cords this year, last year was 9 and the year before around 8. I guess I may have to go 15 for next year and if I only burn 10, I will have enough for the start of the next year after that. I guess I will have to rely on the oil furnace for the rest of the heating season, mid-May.

Feeling the Heat
Had snow on the ground this weekend in Southern Indiana! I hadn't burned in about two weeks, it had been around 70 during the afternoons. Dropped to 27F and had the stacks covered with snow. I cranked the Jotul 118 up and had a nice toasty basement!
Still burning here in north west PA. I should be burning 24/7 still but taking the nights off between 12-6am. Looks like it's gonna stay this way for at least another 5-7 days before we see 50*F again.
Still burning here in Maine . . . although on some days I'm lucky and can get by with a fire in the morning and one at night . . . just not this past weekend due to the cold and wind.
Yep, still burning every night. It's been a colder than average winter here. I was surprised at how much wood I went through. Fortunately, I had just about enough seasoned, just barely. Am planning on trying this summer to really get ahead 1-2 more years. At least I already have next winters splits put up in stacks.

North of 60, what town do you live in? Good friend of mine lives in Yellowknife (I know, wrong Territory but it's relatively close compared to how far I am from him).
No fire tonight, too lazy to go split kindling (none left and no supercedars
) so I will live in my 17 degree basement and plays NHL2011 with a blanket over me. LOL>

North of 60, what town do you live in? Good friend of mine lives in Yellowknife (I know, wrong Territory but it's relatively close compared to how far I am from him).
No fire tonight, too lazy to go split kindling (none left and no supercedars
) so I will live in my 17 degree basement and plays NHL2011 with a blanket over me. LOL>Andrew

I am 20 minutes north of the metropolis of the north, known as Whitehorse. :coolsmile:
When she is 40 below I will find myself beside the BK playing Rapalas pro bass fishing tour in the basement until I have to head out on a trouble call.
